Trevor McNaughton

Trevor McNaughton was a guitar god in one of the world’s most famous rock bands, Perfection. His melodic voice brought lyrics to life, sharing the stage with his wife Gina, the love of his life. They had a beautiful life with their daughter, Roxanne.

However, Trevor’s life was far different growing up in Vancouver, Canada. He was the son of Shaun and Maeve McNaughton. He lived in a modest home in a section of Vancouver that was home to working families. Shaun worked at a manufacturing plant as a supervisor. Maeve stayed at home raising her son.

Trevor was a kind boy with a small group of friends. They spent their days riding bikes and building dams in a small stream by his house.

Maeve loved gardening and would teach Trevor the proper way of planting seeds. Maeve marveled at how her son was interested in watching their plants grow. Maeve also loved Classic music, the radio played Bach, Mozart, Debussy. Maeve would dance to her favorite concertos. Trevor would watch how beautifully his mother danced. She at times would swirl her son around to dance with her. Maeve taught her son the proper ways of a young man. He loved to be included in The Proper Teatime his mother and her friend Iris had every day.

One winter day, Maeve was driving to help a friend. Her car slid off an embankment and killed her instantly. Trevor was with his friends Ian, Kevin and Brian at an arcade. Iris came to get him and explained his mother was in an accident. When he got home, Shaun told him his Mother had passed. Shaun, in his grief, withdrew, and shut out his son.  Trevor had no one to help him process his loss.

Trevor numbed his grief by drinking, smoking marijuana and doing whatever drugs thirteen-year-old boys could get their hands on. He and his friends would break into liquor stores and convenience stores to steal alcohol. The group progressed to breaking into stores to steal merchandise they could sell to buy drugs. The teens were caught several times and brought to Juvenile Detention. Shaun would leave Trevor in JD for weeks before picking him up.

Fortunately, Trevor and Ian found music. Their band, Stanley Park, became a fixture in Vancouver bars playing music, but the boys also became known for drinking too much and picking fights.

One evening, a bar owner told them if they were serious about their band, they should head to New York or Los Angeles where the club scene was hot. Stanley Park chose to go to New York.

The New York promoters loved them. One fateful evening, Stanley Park played a regular gig at Glen Island Casino in New Rochelle. Trevor couldn’t stop staring at a girl in the crowd wearing a white crochet dress. It was love at first sight.

Gina Ricci-Poole would change Trevor’s life forever.
