Gina Ricci-McNaughton grew up in an affluent family on Manhasset, Long Island. Her backyard was the coveted Long Island sound. Gina’s family were devout Catholics and were well-known on Long Island. Her father, Mario Ricci and Uncle Tony Ricci owned five thriving businesses. He also owned other businesses that weren’t so legal. Gina grew up knowing about her family’s endeavors; she also knew not to speak of them.
Her cousin Rio (Mario) was her best friend. The two were inseparable.
Gina had planned to go to the University of Miami and major in business. She thought it would be a cool party school. Her parents had a much different plan for her. Mario and Franny Ricci enrolled Gina in the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) so she could join her mother’s decorating business. Rio was enrolled in New York University (NYU), also not his choice.
Rio was an excellent musician and had started a band called Vision Skye. Gina was intrigued with the idea of singing with the band, thinking “I want to be the kick-ass female lead.” At one practice Gina announced she would sing with the band. To Rio’s amazement, Gina had a great voice and a great stage presence. She was in the band.
Both Gina and Rio stopped going to school to work full time on making Vision Skye a player in the New York club scene. They had eighteen months to make a name for themselves or go back to school.
Gina’s charisma and looks and Rio’s superstar guitar playing got them gigs and the band started to get a following. The bar scene, however, was a grind. Dirty clubs, rowdy drunks and groupies of all kinds. Gina especially hated the groupies.
Gina met her destiny one night at the Glen Island Casino. They were there to hear a friend’s band and see their booking agent. A second band was also playing, fronted by Trevor McNaughton, tall, blond and gorgeous. Gina and Trevor fell madly in love.
Their two bands became one, Perfection. The name was Gina’s idea, as they brought the best of both bands into one. Gina and Trevor’s love affair added to the band’s mystique. Perfection was on its way.
